Mirwaiz to miss Shab-e-Baraat prayers, Auqaf asks people to pray at home | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 07 (KNO): Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar on Tuesday said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq wont be able to deliver Shab-e-Baraat sermon at historic Jamia Masjid and that people should pray at homes and seek Allah’s mercy. In a statement to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Auqaf said that the congregational prayers held at Jamia masjid on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat (Night of Absolution) will not be observed tomorrow. “On this night Mirwaiz e Kashmir Muhammad Umar Farooq won’t be able to address the faithful. Because of the spread of the Corona virus pandemic, no congregational gathering will be held at the historic Jama Masjid , neither will Mirwaiz be able to deliver the sermon as he also continues to be under house arrest.” It said that the Auqaf on behalf of Mirwaiz urges people to hold special prayers and supplications at home during the night and seek refuge of almighty Allah in this night of mercy and pardon from this pandemic, that is causing havoc across the globe, and pray that all humanity be delivered and saved from its spread—(KNO)
